KARACHI, Oct 16: Sindh Minister for Planning and Development Syed Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari on Thursday presided over a meeting held to review the progress made in connection with the launching of postgraduate classes in six selected colleges of the city.

The meeting observed that the schemes had been lying pending for more than three months. Taking notice of the situation, the minister directed the Education department to take immediate measures in this regard and approached the Karachi University to get affiliation for the colleges, so that the postgraduate classes could be initiated by January 2004.

The Sindh government had allocated Rs60 million to introduce postgraduate classes in twelve colleges of the province under the Annual Development Programme, 2003-04, in which six colleges were selected from Karachi and others from interior of Sindh.

The city colleges, selected for the purpose are: Shaheed-e-Millat Girls Degree College Azizabad, Mujeebun Nisa Government Girls Colleges, New Karachi, Government Women Degree College Frier Road, Government Degree College for Girls, Korangi No 4, Government Girls Degree College Lyari and Premier Girls College North Nazimabad.—PPI
