Rs35m project for University of Education approved

ISLAMABAD, Oct 15: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a Rs35 million project to equip the University of Education, Lahore, with latest and sophisticated laboratories.

Under the project, modern lab facilities will be provided to 2,800 students of the six constituent colleges of the university, studying in the disciplines of BEd (Arts), BEd (Science) and MA/MEd (Education). The laboratories will also facilitate about 551 students doing different PhD and MSc courses.

According to a press release, the scheme will not only promote teacher education, but also produce better educators with deep understanding of modern techniques of instruction. It will also strengthen the practical application of scientific concepts.

The newly-established University of Education, Lahore, focuses on the most vital discipline of education keeping in view its importance as the core knowledge area for the continuous improvement and upgradation of teaching methodologies. Besides teacher education programmes, the university is also planning to provide in-service and pre-service training to young teachers.
