Ten robberies reported in district

KASUR, Oct 15: Robbers took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees in 10 strikes in and around the district, on Wednesday.

Police said three robbers stopped Syed Zakir Husain Shah and his brothers, who were going to Bhagiana village by a motorcycle, near Ghumankey village at Phoolnagar. They deprived them of Rs3,350 in cash, wrist watches and two mobile phone sets.

They also looted Rs1,528 in cash and wrist watches from the occupants of a rickshaw, which was passing the locality. The armed men threw the three-wheeler passengers in the fields after beating them. They also looted thousands of rupees in cash from some passersby.

Four armed men barged into Arshad Ali Shah’s house at Ghuman village, held up the inmates and plundered Rs20,000 in cash, jewellery worth around Rs50,000 and other valuables.

In another incident, Muhammad Ibrahim and his brother Sharif were on their way home when three bandits stopped them near Rasoolpur village and deprived them of Rs52,000 in cash, wrist watches and gold rings worth Rs9,530.

Robbers took away Rs16,000 in cash, jewellery and other valuables from Nazir Ahmad’s house at Mohallah Ahmadnagar, Pattoki.

Meanwhile, three thieves entered an outhouse at Kot Haleem Khan and took away two buffaloes worth Rs68,000. While thieves made off with valuables worth Rs30,000 from a house near grid station.

Thieves also took away cash and valuables from two other houses, and stole telephone wires valuing Rs6,500 at Ram Thaman village.
