By Our Staff Reporter
KARACHI, oct 15: The city government has decided that all town Nazims will set up at least two Bachat bazaars in their respective areas during Ramazan.
Officials of the Enterprise of Investment Promotion (EIP) with the help of town Nazims will monitor these bazaars. Joint teams will check the prices and quality so that consumers get quality products at reduced rates.
The decision was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of DCO Mir Hussain Ali. It was attended by town Nazims Abdul Wahab, Farooq Naimatullah, Ahmed Parekh, Shafi Usmani and Amir Nawab, and EDO EIP Raeesuddin Paracha.
A press release said town Nazims would identify sites in their areas for setting up the bazaars. The meeting decided that such bazaars would not be set up at parks or on playgrounds.
A committee has been set up under the chairmanship of Gulberg Town’s Nazim, Farooq Naimatullah, which will be responsible for setting up the bazaars, besides controlling the prices and quality of essential items. Various trade associations will be contacted to set up stalls.
The DCO has strictly issued instructions to town Nazims to properly ensure that consumers get regular items at affordable rates during Ramazan. To control the price hike, all the stalls at the bazaars will prominently display the price list.
