Four killed in Indian shelling along LoC


MIRPUR (Azad Kashmir), Oct 14: Indian shelling on Tuesday killed four civilians, including two children, besides injuring four more persons in the Hajeera sector along the Line of Control, police officials said.

The unprovoked shelling affected civilian houses in the Dara Sheir Khan village, Rawalakot district, in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir, they added.

SP Rawalakot Tahir Mahmood Qureshi said that the firing started at about 11:40am on Tuesday, intermittently continuing for some time.

The district police chief identified those, who were killed in the firing, as eight-year-old Zaheen Akhter, daughter of Abdul Rehman, Abdul Hussain, son of Kaloo, 50, Sultan, son of Abdul Hussain, 18, and five-year-old Urfaan, son of Abdul Rehman.

The injured were identified as 40-year-old Zaitoon, wife of Abdul Hussain, 12-year-old Najma, daughter of Abdul Hussain, 11- year-old Mir Baz, son of Bagga Khan, and 13-year-old Yasin, son of Munshi Khan.

All of the injured were hospitalized in District Hospital, Kotli.—APP
