Saleh stages incredible recovery
KARACHI, Oct 14: Pakistan’s Saleh Muhammad staged an incredible recovery from 0-3 down to overpower Tang Jun of China 4-3 to register his third win in a row in World Snooker Federation Championship in Jiang Ming City (China) according to message received on Tuesday.
Diminutive Saleh, who finished third in 1998 world championship in Ghanzhou (China) smashed a superb break of 98 in the penultimate frames to record an exciting triumph.
Saleh is leading the pool “D” with three straight victories in as many matches.
Pakistan number two Saleh made a dismal start as Tang potting nicely picked up the first three frames. Chinese needed just one frame for victory but Saleh turned the table with a fighting performance.
Saleh took the next four frames in row to seize victory including breaks of 66 in the fifth and 98 in sixth frame to show his class.
Saleh won the two hours and 20 minutes contest 7-62, 68-77, 9-73, 65-31, 82-21, 103-1, 81-22.
Saleh made a splendid start in the championship when he toppled 2002 world championship runner-up in Cairo, Tim English of Wales in fully stretched seven frames contest on Monday.
Pakistan number one Khurram Agha after suffering back-to-back defeats, notched-up his first win, beating Gerrit Bis Deleijram of the Netherlands 4-3.
Like Saleh, Khurram also came thrice from behind to chalk out 65-10, 10-102, 22-96, 78-24, 13-56, 52-74, 48-45 victory.—APP
