PESHAWAR, Oct 14: A grand humorous Mushaira, held at the University of Peshawar on Monday night, provided the much-needed entertainment to the students who had just taken their examinations.
Organized by the Peshawar University Teachers Association (Puta) at the Senate Hall, the Mushaira was first of its kind and was liked by all those present. Noted poet and former station director of the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Peshawar centre, Hamidullah Jan Bismil introduced the guests, and announced that only humorous stuff would be allowed.
He asked the poets to refrain from serious poetry and all of them obliged.
Turn by turn, all the poets of the city and those who had been invited from Malakand and Mardan, came to the mike and made the audience laugh.
Zafar Khan Zafar stole the show. His work was so much appreciated that he was requested to present his stuff on more than one occasion.
Noted humorous poet Akmal Lewanai also impressed with his criticism of the Pakistani bureaucracy.
Master Sher Afzal Khan, Dad Mohammad Dilsoz, Sajid Afghan Humayun Khan Huma, Masud Jan, Gohar Ali Gohar and others presented their work.
Puta President Arbab Khan Afridi appreciated Prof Abaseen Yousafzay for his efforts to organize the Mushaira and announced that another Mushaira would be held on Oct 20.
