ISLAMABAD, Oct 14: People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP) MNA Sherry Rahman has submitted a bill for the repeal of Hudood laws to the National Assembly Secretariat.
Talking to Dawn, Sherry Rehman said the bill had been moved in line with the party’s policy that these laws were discriminatory against women.
The PPP MNA said she would table more bills in the National Assembly after failure of the government to do legislation business in parliament.
Ms Sherry said she would also present bills to check the incidents of ‘Karo Kari’ and child labour. She said the bills were being tabled keeping in view the fact that these were very serious issues and needed immediate attention.
The PPP MNA stated that she knew that there would be some resistance and opposition to the bills, but the party wanted to bring its policy on record. The PPP leader said she would brief newsmen about the details of the bills on Wednesday.
