KARACHI: Orangi Town to get 20-bed modern hospital
KARACHI, Oct 14: Sindh minister for planning and development Shoaib Ahmad Bokhari, and Sindh minister for information technology, Yaqoob Ilyas, inaugurated construction works on different development schemes in Orangi Town on Tuesday.
They inaugurated the work on Saint Vincent Church Road and RCC Pipe for sewerage in Christian Colony, Ghaziabad under the MPAs development programme. The projects, to be completed at a cost of Rs375,000, will benefit the population of over 25,000 of Christian Colony, Gulshan-i-Zia and Mansoor Nagar. The areas fall under the constituency of provincial minister Yaqoob Ilyas.
The work on a 0.34-km road from Tauheed Colony to the pumping station block L chowrangi was also inaugurated. The scheme to be completed at Rs310,000 will benefit some 30,000 people. The area falls under the constituency of MPA Abdul Quddoos.
The third development scheme, which will cost Rs00,000, was inaugurated in the constituency of MPA Anwer Alam and will benefit over 40,000 area residents.
Mr Shoaib Bokhari told the people present on the occasion that 100 new beds would given to the Qatar Hospital very soon; 40 for heart patients, 40 for kidney patients and 20 for the emergency ward.
He further said a project for a 20-bed hospital equipped with modern medical facilities in the Orangi Town area was also under consideration. Besides, he said, the K-III project for water supply would started in 2005, which would fulfil the water need of Orangi Town for at least 20 to 25 years.
Mr Yaqoob Ilyas said the schemes initiated were the first part of a planned series of projects of water supply, sewerage, electricity, gas supply and roads construction. He said that work on a project to supply 10,000 gallons of water daily to Orangi Town would start before Ramazan.
He said that Christian Colony was the first area in the city where the work on the MPAs’ development schemes had started. “It proves the present government is paying attention to the Christian population. All Pakistanis will have to work for the development and prosperity of the country.
Later the provincial ministers also inaugurated the work on the PMT and pool installation in Siddiq-i-Akber Colony, UC-5. MPAs Abdul Quddoos and Anwer Alam and TPO Danish Saeed were also present on the occasion.—PPI
