KARACHI: MA classes, library announced for college
KARACHI, Oct 14: Sindh Education Minister Irfanullah Marwat on Tuesday announced initiating of Bachelors of Computer Science (Pass & Honours) and postgraduate classes, besides establishment of Allama Shabir Ahmed Usmani library at the Govt Islamia Science College.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a computer lab at the college, for which the minister donated 20 computers, he informed that the British Council would provide financial assistance to Sindh education department for setting up three well-equipped libraries in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur, where the latest editions of publications and teaching books would be made available.
He said the government was taking steps for promotion of education and increasing literacy in the province, adding that the teachers should work with dedication for the purpose.
All those teachers who had been promoted in BPS 20 would be informed through notifications, he added.
Mr Marwat further said the government was planning to establish more intermediate and degree colleges in the city, in addition to provision of latest and sophisticated IT equipment and facilities to the students.
He said the government was aware of deteriorating condition of public schools in the province and efforts were underway to renovate buildings and provision of furniture, besides appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff at such educational institutes.
Later, the minister distributed prizes and certificates among the students who performed well in the examinations.
