KARACHI: Livestock policy in 15 days


KARACHI, Oct 11: Sindh Chief Minister Sardar Ali Muhammad Khan Mahar will announce the live stock policy for Sindh in the next fifteen days, said Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Matawakkil Kazi here on Saturday.

Talking to newsmen at his office, the chief secretary said the development of fishing, aquiculture and cattle-raising sectors on modern lines was the prime need of the time, and the relevant department should devise an effective strategy for those sectors to stabilise the source of livelihood of the people associated with them.

He said the Coastal Development Authority would also have to discharge its responsibility in that regard,

To a question about the recent oil spill, the chief secretary said relevant functionaries were active to resolve the problems pertaining to the oil spill and cooperation of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) had been sought to mitigate the problems faced by local fishermen on account of the oil spill.

He said developments works in the cities and villages of Sindh continued and they would bring prosperity in the province. He expressed the hope that the district governments would take vigorous steps to ensure timely completion of the schemes.—PPI
