KARACHI, Oct 11: Convener of the Sindh Organizing Committee of Pakistan Muslim League-Q Senator Nisar Memon has said that the committee is continuing with the task assigned to it as directed by the party chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, and the General Secretary, Salim Saifullah Khan.

He also expressed his happiness over the unification of five PML factions and described the development as ‘good omen’ for democracy and the country.

Mr Memon was talking to newsmen informally at a luncheon arranged by the party at the Sindh PML House here on Saturday. Sahibzada Munir Khan and Azad Bin Haider, members of the committee, were also present.

Responding to various questions, Mr Memon said that after completion of the legal process for the unification, the ‘one PML’ would emerge as a reality and all breakaway factions would cease to exist.

“Outsiders look uneasy over the unification, but we will face them,” he remarked.

In reply to a question, he said that his committee was making efforts to popularize the party and would accomplish the task by the end of October with the submission of its recommendations and report to the party chief.

Defending his role and recognition by the party leadership, the Senator said: “We do not eye offices. The party leadership has faith in me and given the responsibilities. I was named chairman of the Water Committee of the Parliament to handle the most sensitive issue. My team’s task is to collect facts and figures to be presented to the masses in order to remove misgivings and build a consensus on the issue. We are supposed to safeguard the interests of all the provinces and recommend measures to promote cohesion and integrity of the provinces.”

Mr Memon said that he was leaving in night for New York to attend the ongoing session of the UN General Assembly and would be back in a week. On return, he added, he would convene a meeting of the water committee.
