BAGHDAD, Oct 10: The gulf between the Americans and Iraqis grew after two soldiers were killed in an ambush on Thursday night and a firefight erupted between US troops and a militia on Friday.
Thursday’s suicide attack on a police station in the poor and densely-populated district of Sadr City stirred trouble between US forces and young firebrand Shia leader Moqtada Sadr.
“Two First AD (armoured division) soldiers were killed in action and four wounded in an ambush in the Sadr district” on Thursday, the military said in a statement. —AFP
