LAYYAH, Oct 10: The district government has approved Rs10 million for the upgradation of the Layyah DHQ Hospital.

This was decided during a special health promotion meeting held under the chairmanship of District Nazim Sardar Shahab Din Sehar.

The district Nazim said that funds would be utilized to modernize casualty ward, gynaecology department, surgical unit and ENT department.

Acting medical superintendent Dr Zafar Iqbal Mulghani said that there had been no increase in the strength of paramedical staff and medical officers in the hospital since 1982.

Similarly, he said the hospital could not provide treatment to seriously injured patients because of lack of an emergency ward.
