ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: The government announced on Wednesday a reward of Rs2.5 million to anyone who will provide information and positive clue about the killers of Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan chief Maulana Azam Tariq, his three guards and a driver.

The information in this regard can be conveyed to the National Crisis Management Cell of the interior ministry, inspectors-general of police of Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, North West Frontier Province, Balochistan and Northern Areas and senior superintendent of police and deputy commissioner of Islamabad.

Meanwhile, interior minister Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, suspended two senior officials of Islamabad police for their “negligence” that resulted in the tragic incident, a source in the ministry said.

He said the establishment division had issued notifications regarding suspension of additional superintendent of police Khalid Khan Khattak, who was working as acting SSP, Islamabad, and superintendent of police (headquarters) Taimoor Ali Khan.

The source further said that capital police SSP Shahid Nadeem Baloch, who was on an official visit to Dubai, had returned and took charge of his office on Wednesday.
