Wasim to be honoured

Published October 9, 2003

ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: The fifth and final International between Pakistan and South Africa in Rawalpindi on Oct 12 is to be dedicated to Wasim Akram.

The Pakistan Cricket Board and Pepsi have planned a grand farewell for the allrounder who quit from international cricket following this year’s World Cup.

Wasim, the highest wicket-taker in the world in one-day Internationals with 502 scalps and the only bowler to have over 400 wickets in both forms of the game, said that the people of Pakistan had always given him their love and support.

“The farewell ceremony being arranged for me, is also an encouragement for all those who dedicate their life for their country, he said.”

On the occasion of his farewell Wasill will be presented a prize as a token of thanks for his services to Pakistan cricket.
