Land for industrial city acquired

Published October 9, 2003

LAHORE, Oct 8: The Punjab government has acquired 1,500 acres of land on Sunder Road for the development of an industrial city with a 500 acres of garments city.

Provincial Industries Minister Muhammad Ajmal Cheema gave this out while presiding over a meeting to review the implementation of the industrial policy here on Wednesday.

He said the government had released funds for looking up infrastructure in five industrial estates. The step would help promote the small industries in the province.

The government, he said, would establish facilitation centres in all the cities of the province to provide necessary information about investment to foreigners and overseas Pakistanis under one roof.

A facilitation centre was already functioning in Lahore satisfactorily, he added.
