Gang busted, abducted boy recovered

QUETTA, Oct 8: The police have busted a gang involved in kidnapping for ransom and recovered an eight-year-old son of a businessman.

Inspector General Police Dr Shoaib Suddle speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday said that the police had arrested the ring leader, Abdullah Jan Kakar, and five other members of the gang from Killi Mangal Shahrag, including a Naib Resaldar of the Levies.

“The gang leader had kidnapped many other people, including two engineers of a coal company and a young girl, and had murdered a person of the Marri tribe,” the IGP told reporters and added that he had also killed many people on suspicion that they were police informer.

Mr Suddle said that Mohammad Nabi, 8, was abducted on Sept 2, and the gang demanded Rs8 million ransom money from Haji Fazal Mohammad for the release of his son.

The phone call through which naib resaldar Sabir Khan had demanded the ransom was traced and the police managed to arrest him from Sher Mohammad road.

The house of Abdullah Jan Kakar was raided and the boy was recovered. The police also arrested the gang leader Abdullah, Mir Salam, Zahoor Ahmed, Sadiq and Abdul Hakeem.

The police also seized a motorbike used in kidnapping, two rifles, one kalashnikov and hundreds of live rounds.
