KARACHI: Workshop on women rights

KARACHI, Oct 8: A three-day capacity building workshop on Law, Justice and Equality of Women Rights, being organized by an NGO, the Aurat Foundation, opens at a local hotel on Oct 13.

The aim of holding the workshop is to increase interaction and create linkages among different women rights/human rights organizations, legal community, professional organizations, etc., in order to expand support-base on the issues of women’s legal rights and enhance capacity building of NGO activists, lawyers, and others that could enable them to have a better understanding of laws affecting women.

WOMEN LITERACY: Federal government was taking all possible steps to raise female literacy rate in the country, Sindh minister for culture and tourism, Shabbir Ahmed Qaimkhani, said on Wednesday, adds PPI.

Speaking at a scholarship cheques distribution ceremony at the Government Girls Secondary School Jacobline, the minister said that Sindh government was also making all out efforts to improve literacy rate in the province and acquiring co-operation of local and foreign donor agencies as well, to achieve this goal.

He said that participation of women in social development projects was being ensured to boost literacy among girls at primary and secondary levels.
