MMA awaits Jamali’s views

Published October 7, 2003

LAHORE, Oct 6: MMA leader Liaquat Baloch says talks between the religious parties and the government on the LFO stood completed and now Prime Minister Jamali would give his point of view on various issues on his return from the US visit.

In a statement, he said the MMA wanted to make the talks a success.

He said the government team was powerless because of which the MMA had decided to launch a mass mobilization campaign.

Meanwhile, PML-Q Senator Kamil Ali Agha said here on Monday that the government was serious about making its talks with the MMA a success but the religious parties alliance’s statements were benefiting the elements wanting to sabotage the parleys,

In a press statement, he said the opposition was scared of being relegated into background because of the PML factions’ merger and the government-MMA talks. He said opposition parties, therefore, would like the state of confrontation to continue.

Agha believed that opposition parties would not dare come on the streets as they were aware of their public support.
