Police arrest seven BSO activists

By Our Staff Correspondent

QUETTA, Oct 6: Police have arrested seven activists of Baloch Students Organization (BSO) for blocking a road during the governor’s visit to Mastung.

Police sources said that the BSO had blocked the Quetta- Karachi highway near Mastung two days back to protest against the appointment of the Balochistan governor, who did not belong to the province. The governor was on a visit to the area on that day.

The protesters had also pelted stones on the officials of the law enforcing agencies.

The police had registered a case against 12 people and arrest 10 including seven BSO activists. The BSO workers include Manzoor Ahmed Baloch, Hanif Baloch, Khalil Ahmed, Jamil Baloch, Abdul Razaq, Sanaullah and Atiqur Rahman.

Balochistan National Party (BNP) information secretary Senator Sanaullah Baloch had strongly condemned the incident of baton charge and using tear gas against the students of girls and boys colleges in Mastung during the governor’s visit.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, he said that the students were demanding the resolution of their problems.

Criticizing the government for registering cases against the students and their arrest, he demanded immediate release.

Mr Baloch said that police had also arrested BNP’s leaders and workers in connection with the explosion in Rojhan Jamali.
