English teachers’ moot from 10th


KARACHI, Oct 6: The 19th International conference of the Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers will be held from Oct 10 to 12 at the Bahria College.

English language experts from the country and abroad will share their expertise on major English language teaching issues.

A spokesperson for the society said that registration for the moot would close on Oct 9.

The moot will be inaugurated by Dr Najma Najum, Vice-Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, Ms Katherine Barbara Bird, President TESOL Arabia, will present the keynote address on ‘Curriculum Reforms.’

The other prominent speakers will include Dr Ahmad M Dewidar from the American University, Cairo, Nirmali Hettiarchi from Sri Lanka, Dr John Retallick from the Aga Khan University, Dr Ambreena Qazi from the Karachi University and Dr Shahid Siddiqui from the GIK Institute, NWFP.

The objective of the conference was to familiarize the English language teachers with the current research in the field and to benefit from their

observations regarding prevailing ELT practices in the country, the spokesperson said.
