LAHORE, Oct 5: A man accused his son-in-law of killing his daughter for giving birth to a girl at Aibak Block of Garden Town.

Charagh Din of Sabzazar told police he married his daughter Samina, 22, to property dealer Javed Aslam some two years ago. It was his second marriage.

Mr Din said his daughter had been complaining about maltreatment of her. But, he said, he always advised her to make adjustments with in-laws. He said she did everything to appease them but she could not win their hearts.

He said his daughter gave birth to a girl on Aug 26. He said his family was not allowed a meeting with his daughter by the in-laws.

He said her in-laws informed him on Sept 17 that his daughter was admitted to the Shaikh Zayed Hospital.

He said she told him in the hospital that she had been given acid by her husband. She said her father-in-law Malik Aslam and his wife Manzooran Bibi were equally involved in the crime.

The woman died in the hospital on Sunday.

The body was removed to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered against the property dealer and his parents with no arrest.
