Permanent jobs sought

Published October 6, 2003

SWABI, Oct 5: The teaching community in Swabi has rejected the government policy to appoint teachers on contract and demanded teachers appointment on permanent basis.

Talking to this correspondent, the teachers said the government had already issued advertisements and it had been declared that the teachers would be appointed on contract basis while replacing the previous policy.

Now, according to the government, the senior English teachers (SETs), primary school teachers (PTCs), physical education teachers (PETs), theology teachers (TTs), Arabic teachers (ATs), certificate teaching (CT) teacher and Qaris would be appointed on contract basis.

The principal of a higher secondary school said the government’s ad hoc policy negated its claim that top priority was being given to the education sector.
