India launches operation along BD border

NEW DELHI, Oct 4: Accusing Bangladesh of harbouring guerrillas of the National Liberation Front of Tripura, Indian BSF has launched an Operation Thunder along the 856km-long border of Tripura with Bangladesh, reports Deccan Herald.

Indians claim that trans-border movement of the banned NLFT militants from their sanctuaries in Bangladesh has created a serious law and order situation in Tripura.

A BSF spokesman speaking to newsmen predicted a major campaign by the NLFT militants to kidnap locals for mobilizing funds.

Operation Thunder is an Indian attempt to propagate cross-border militancy charges against Bangladesh to diplomatically blackmail it. Indian

forces may also use the opportunity to push their agents into Bangladesh behind the cover of search operations along the border.—APP
