BERLIN, Oct 4: Former Afghan king Mohammed Zahir Shah is set to return to Italy, where he spent 29 years in exile before leaving for Kabul last year, German news magazine Der Spiegel said in its upcoming Monday edition.

One of his sons is currently preparing his return, the magazine said, citing Rudolf Retzer, commander of the German contingent in Afghanistan’s 5,300-strong International Security Assistance Force.—AFP
