Demo against Hesco held
LARKANA, Oct 2: A procession was taken out by shopkeepers and traders in Dokri on Thursday to protest over unannounced power loadshedding and inflated bills.
On the call of the Dokri Chamber of Commerce, shops also remained closed in the town in the morning hours.
The protesters after marching on main roads of the town converged at Hyder Chowk where they staged a sit-in and burnt tyres.
They were raising slogans against local Hesco line superintendent for issuing detection bills and resorting to unscheduled and lengthy power shutdowns.
The executive engineer, Hesco, arrived at the scene and held talks with the protestors.
He announced that the line superintendent would be removed and a camp would be held on Friday in the town to rectify the inflated bills.
COURT NOTICES: Meanwhile, Sindh High Court, Larkana circuit bench, here on Thursday issued notices to Hesco’s chief executive; superintendent engineer, Larkana circle; executive engineer, Larkana-II; SDO, Dokri; and revenue Officer, circle-II; in response to a petition filed by a villager, Khalid Hussain Bughio.
The Hesco officials were asked to appear in the court on Oct 9 and file comments.
The petitioner, who is the general secretary of Goth Sudhar Sangat, Karani village, said that the power consumers of his village made partial payments of the bills on the Hesco chief’s assurance, in an open kutchehri on March 3 in the village, to waive off the remaining amount and restore power supply to the village by restoring the transformers.
The petitioner said that the Hesco officials had removed two transformers whereas two others had gone out of order.
Instead of restoring power supply to the village, he stated, detection bills were issues to the villagers.
