KARACHI: Nazim gives Rs500,000 to SIUT, pledges more
KARACHI, Oct 2: Karachi Nazim Naimatullah Khan has called for guidance of medical experts for achieving progress and provision of facilities in the health sector, and sought such guidance from experts such as Prof Adib-ul-Hasan Rizvi.
He stated this while speaking to doctors during a visit to the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation on Wednesday.
On the occasion, the city Nazim also presented a cheque for Rs0.5 million to Prof Adib Rizvi for the SIUT.
“It is our good luck that we have experts like Adib Rizvi among us, serving the cause of ailing humanity,” Mr Khan said.
He said there was an opportunity for others to learn from Prof Rizvi.
He described the SIUT as a model medical institution of Karachi and said it would soon become a model for the whole country.
“It is our moral responsibility to cooperate with Dr Adib Rizvi and he should not feel at any moment that he is alone”.
Naimatullah Khan said Prof Rizvi did nothing for himself and whatever he built up was for the nation. He said all those who did anything for this institution, would get reward from Allah.
The Nazim said this small cheque was being given to the SIUT only as an initial amount and the city government would continue to extend financial assistance to the institution.
On the occasion, Prof Adib Rizvi said he had always received love from the Nazim and the city government and it was enough for him.
He said that on the land given by the city government, a community centre was being built. — APP
