BANGKOK, Sept 29: The final wave of Thailand’s military contingent to Iraq departed on Monday, completing the transfer of more than 400 personnel who will be based in Karbala.
A 21-member Thai military advance team left for Iraq earlier this month to assess the fragile security situation there and make preparations for the main body of the deployment.
“Two hundred and ten officers left today for the mission in Iraq. They are from the engineering division and medical teams,” said army spokesman Col Somkuan Saengpattaranetr.—AFP
