Police told not to raid robber’s house

LAHORE, Sept 29: The Lahore High Court on Monday restrained the Okara police from raiding the house of the father of a 22-year-old woman who was wanted in connection with car-snatching and robbery cases.

Muhammad Hassan, a resident of Satghara tehsil, Chiniot, had asked the court to stop the station house officer concerned from raiding his house for the recovery of his daughter Rubina.

The petitioner said that he had sent his daughter to Lahore for a nursing course last year, where she started keeping bad company.

Arrested by the Sheikhupura police in connection with a car-snatching incident, she secured bail with the assistance of fellow gangsters, he claimed, adding that he had disowned Rubina through the press and severed his relationship with her.

Allegedly, the Satghara SHO raided the petitioner’s house on Sept 16 and searched it without warrants besides intimidating inmates and asking them to produce the girl.

The petitioner told the SHO that he did not know of Rubina’s whereabouts, but the SHO kept on harassing him and other members of his family.

Justice Muhammad Ghani disposed of the petition with directions to the SHO to refrain from raiding the house.

The court referred the matter to the Okara Sub-Divisional Policer Officer, asking him to probe the matter.
