BAHAWALPUR, Sept 28: Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has directed the IGP to submit a report on the course of investigation into the rape attempt case at Chak 55-DB, Yazman, it is learnt on Sunday.
The chief minister has issued this directive after receiving the news of the protests of the minorities and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan over the incident.
Six youths, who belong to influential families of Chak 54 and 55-DB, allegedly attempted to rape three Hindu girls on Sept 17. Of them, four were arrested by the Yazman police while two are still at large.
People representing a minority and human right bodies have demanded the arrest of the two absconders without further delay.
CHAMBER POLLS: Sheikh Abbas Raza and Ataullah Akhtar were elected unopposed president and senior vice-president, respectively, of the Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Sunday.
The other office-bearers elected unopposed are VP Khwaja Abdul Ghafoor, and executive committee members, Chaudhry Mehboob Nasir, Abdul Sattar Chaudhry, Manzoor Ayaz and Abdul Samad.
