KARACHI, Sept 27: Wapda struck twice in the second half to reach the quarterfinals after a 2-0 victory over National Bank (NBP) in the PFF Cup football tournament in Quetta on Saturday.

According to information, Wapda, who dominated the game from the very beginning, squandered several chances before breaking the deadlock through Khuda Bukhsh who converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute after the ball touched the NBP defender’s hand in the penalty area.

The bankers’ hopes of any recovery dashed when Tanveer consolidated Wapda’s lead two minutes later when he headed home a Zulfiqar Shah corner.

Karachi Port Trust (KPT) also qualified for the quarterfinals despite a 2-2 draw with Pakistan Police in an another match.

Policemen got off to a flying start when Mohammad Nawaz scored the fastest goal of the tournament so far by heading home a perfect cross in the third minute of the first session.

KPT restored parity taking full advantage of a 42nd-minute penalty which was converted by Rauf Rahman following a foul by Police defender, while Fareed Majeed’s brilliant individual effort helped KPT go 2-1 up in the 55th minute.

A stiff challenge from spirited Police put the game on an even keel with Mohammad Aslam deceiving two defenders to score a beautiful goal in the 64th minute.
