PML-Q CEC meets tomorrow

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 27: The central executive committee of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q will meet at the party’s secretariat here on Monday, Sept 29.

PML-Q’s president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain will chair the meeting, which will be attended by the CEC members besides the party’s legislators.

The meeting will discuss among other things the ways and means to implement the unification/merger of the five factions of the PML into a single entity under Chaudhry Shujaat’s presidency.

The party leadership is divided on the question of dissolving the party’s organisations as one of the groups in the party is of the view that such a step could only be taken by a resolution adopted by a general council meeting.

Meanwhile, Dr Khalid Ranjha’s advisory committee on implementation of the merger of PML factions, which had met on Thursday to prepare its recommendations, has submitted its report to the party president on Friday.

The committees’ recommendations include a recourse to the Election Commission with each of the party chiefs or their representatives requesting the chief election commissioner to remove the affix being carried by respective factions leaving only the name Pakistan Muslim League.
