PESHAWAR, Sept 27: The NWFP government on Saturday released Rs2.8 million for the maintenance and rehabilitation of seminaries in the province, officials said.

They said that the finance department had released the amount to the provincial Auqaf Department.

The province, officials said, had nearly 1,100 registered Madaris, while the number of unregistered religious schools was 300.

The government has allocated Rs5 million in the current’s year budget in this regard while it had released only Rs2 million in the previous financial year.
