District admn urged to monitor govt depts

SARGODHA, Sept 27: The district administration and members of the provincial assembly at a meeting on Saturday pledged to eradicate corruption in the government departments.

They warned that stern action would be taken against the officials found involved in malpractice.

The members of the provincial assembly assured the district government that it would be provided opportunity to work without any pressure. However, it should keep an eye on the affairs of the government departments under its control.

The meeting reviewed the working of the health officials and blasted charges of appropriation of funds allocated for medicines, absence of medical officers, and apathy of the other staff.

The executive district health officer was asked to improve the state of the health units in the district in a month. He was also urged to take stock of quackery and sale of expired medicines.

District Police Officer Tariq Yasin told the participants that police had conscientiously started registering cases. It was a practice here, he said, that the police registered few cases to show the minimum number of crime incidents.

He was asked to direct his subordinates to behave politely with the general public.

Reviewing the Baitul Maal and Zakat and Ushr Committee’s performance, the officials stressed the need to take measures to make distribution of funds transparent.

PAF commanders: The graduation ceremony of Combat Commanders School (CCS) was held at PAF Base Mushaf on Saturday. Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, Chief of the Air Staff, was the chief guest.

In his address to the graduating combat commanders, the chief guest said the graduated elite group of combat pilots and controllers would prove to be an asset for the PAF as they had acquired the highest standard of professional excellence.

The officer commanding of CCS, group captain Sohail Aman presented the course report.

The chief guest then awarded certificates and trophies to the graduating officers. The chief of the air staff trophy for the best combat commander was awarded to Squadron Leader Fawad Masood Hatmi while air officer commanding trophy for the best controller was awarded to Squadron Leader M Maqbool Mohiuddin.

FACILITIES: The government will spend Rs5 billion for the provision of residential, medical, educational and other facilities to industrial workers and their families under the labour policy announced by the Punjab chief minister.

This was stated by Provincial Labour and Manpower Minister Syed Akhtar Hussain Rizvi here on Saturday.

The minister also ensured the timely completion of all the welfare-oriented schemes for industrial workers.

He said another social security hospital comprising 100 beds was being established on Ajnala Road.
