ISLAMABAD, Sept 26: Islam-abad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has achieved 10.09 per cent reduction in line losses.

This was stated by the company chief executive, Brig Waseem Zafar Iqbal (retired), while speaking at a gathering of businessmen and traders at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), a press release said.

Brig Iqbal said the reduction in line losses was a great accomplishment among all South Asian electricity distribution companies.

He said the company revenues had increased to Rs22.05 billion in the last one year, which was Rs2 billion more compared to last year’s figures.

The Iesco chief said several electricity connections had been cut off due to non-payments of bills. However, he said a one-window operation had been setup for the convenience of consumers.

Commending the performance of Iesco, ICCI president Akram Farid said serious consideration must be given towards reducing utility rates for boosting production and increasing Pakistan’s exports.

Frequent power supply interruptions in the federal capital are of serious concern to the consumers and must also be avoided, he added.
