KARACHI: Completion of FTC flyover ordered

KARACHI, Sept 26: The city government, to expedite the ongoing work on FTC Flyover project, has taken various measures, with major emphasis on easing the traffic flow at the site.

In this connection, DCO Mir Hussain Ali visited the fly over site along with engineers concerned, city government and traffic police officials.

The DCO issued on the spot instructions for plugging water leakage, caused due to bursting of an underground pipeline at the site.

Following the visit, the DCO chaired a meeting, where it was decided that sign boards showing alternate routes for the traffic would be placed at the spot, for the convenience of vehicle drivers.

He directed the traffic police and transport department to make concerted efforts to reduce traffic pressure through providing proper guidance to the vehicles.

It was further decided that proper arrangements for installation of traffic lights would also be made to facilitate drivers.

The meeting decided that construction material and waste lying scattered on the site be removed immediately.

To improve the traffic flow, all islands running parallel with the passages would be narrowed soon, the meeting agreed.

Among others, the meeting was also attended by representative of City Nazim, Salim Azhar, EDO (works), Shoaib Siddiqui and EDO (transport), Tahir Soomro.—APP
