ISLAMABAD, Sept 25: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has approved a project worth Rs35 million named ‘Support to Biotech Educational and Research Programme’ for the NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar.

The project was approved at a recently-held meeting of the Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) held under the chairmanship of Dr M. Akram Shaikh, executive director, HEC, an official statement said.

The main objective of the project is to upgrade the existing institute of biotechnology and genetic engineering to conduct training courses to generate a cadre of trained manpower for major research establishment and universities.
