FAISALABAD, Sept 25: The district council convener has called an emergent session on Friday (today) to take up the issue of implication and arrest of a union council Nazim by police.

Around 147 members of the district council filed a requisition with the convener to call an emergent session so that action could be proposed against Factory Area police team for implicating union council Nazim Mian Muhammad Aslam.

The convener formally called the session, and also advertised it in the local dailies.

Reports said Mian Aslam visited the police station with some locals to seek police’s help in a case. But the SHO not only misbehaved with the visitors, but also implicated the Nazim in a criminal case and locked him up.

Factory Area police SHO Omar Daraz got him booked through sub-inspector Shahadat Ali, in-charge police post, Samanabad, alleging that he along with some other people visited the police post and threatened the SI with dire consequences. The police registered a case under sections 186 and 353 PPC.

Meanwhile, more than 100 Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors have warned of staging protest demonstration and resigning from their offices if the SHO concerned was not suspended for implicating their colleague.

The Nazims, who requisitioned the session, said the district Nazim and the district police officer had assured them that action would be taken against the Factory Area police SHO after conducting an inquiry. However, they said, no action had so far been taken in this regard.
