‘Revenue record to be computerized’

PESHAWAR, Sept 25: Senior minister Sirajul Haq, who also holds the portfolio of finance ministry, said that the provincial government was trying to improve the performance of the revenue department.

He was replying in response to several call attention notices moved by a number of MPAs.

The call-attention notices were related to complaints, including the high rate of mutation fees and the alleged corruption of Patwaris.

The provincial minister said the government had launched a survey for computerizing the record of the revenue department.

Similarly, he added, new buildings would be constructed to save old record from being damaged.

Mr Siraj agreed with the suggestion floated by Abdul Majid Khan of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal that the registration and mutation fees of different sized plots and houses should be properly exhibited so that people could not be deceived in this regard.

Dist GOVTS: Local Bodies Minister Sardar Mohammad Idrees told the assembly that the district governments would complete the ongoing development schemes on priority basis.

Responding to a question asked by MPA Tajul Amin Jabal, he said the district governments has been made bound to complete the ongoing schemes before starting work on new projects.

He said a Local Commission had been constituted under Section 131 of the Local Government Ordinance 2001.

In response to a query about non-representation of women in the commission, the minister said there was no such provision in the ordinance but the provincial government would approach the National Reconstruction Bureau for amendment to the law.

Responding to a question, he said the provincial government was paying attention to the improvement of parks to provide more facilities to the people.—APP
