HYDERABAD: Women to be focused on World Heart Day

HYDERABAD, Sept 25: The Pakistan Cardiac Society is organizing a public awareness programme for women to mark the World Heart Day on Sept 28.

The coordinators of the local chapter of the society, Dr Feroze Memon and Dr Fazal Memon said on Thursday that the programme was aimed at creating awareness among women about heart diseases and preventive measures.

They said the programme would include a presentation on heart diseases in women with free services of blood sugar testing, blood cholesterol testing and blood pressure recordings of all participants.

They said a panel of physicians and cardiologists would be available to inform the people about heart diseases and their complications.

CORNEA TRANSPLANTATION: The Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan has announced that it is organizing the 11th annual international ophthalmic conference here at a local hotel on Oct 4, 5 and 6 on the subject of “Current trends in Ophthalmology”.

The Hyderabad chapter spokesman of the society, Prof Shafi Mohammad Jatoi, said national and international specialists of eye would speak on the occasion.

They included Prof Ossama Ibrahim (Egypt), Dr Upali Mendis (Sri Lanka) and Dr Jermal Al Qahtani (Saudi Arabia).

A clinical course on “Ocular Pathology” and live surgical workshop on “Corneal Transplantation” will also be conducted by Dr Qahtani and Dr Mendis, respectively.
