KARACHI, Sept 24: Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) is planning strict action against players who are found absent and given walkover to their opponents.
According to a letter issued by PBSA Secretary Aspi Mavalwala issued on Wednesday that no player in the future will be allowed to give walkover or remain absent from the event without giving any solid reason.
“Absent players will be banned from participating in PBSA ranking events for up to one year if his reason for not playing his schedule match is unacceptable to tournament committee”, the letter said.
He however said that players have supported the association and its policies implemented time to time. But PBSA have decided to induct the following rule into existing PBSA Ranking System and same shall be read as Addendum to the current Code of Conduct which must be followed by all players in order to ensure proper discipline during the tournaments.
It may be mentioned here that PBSA faced a great trouble in the 17th Latif Masters after Shakeel Bhatti of Sindh and Rambel Gul of NWFP failed to report in the most important event of calander without intimating the association.
PBSA included Shah of NWFP in place of Arifullah, who informed PBSA before expressing his inability to take part in the event.—APP
