Shikarpur gets Rs184m for development

SHIKARPUR, Sept 24: District Nazim Mohammad Arif Mahar, addressing a meeting of the district council here on Tuesday, said that Rs184 million had been allocated in the annual budget for development work in the district.

He further said Rs389.73 million were released by Sindh government under KPP-III, KPP-IV, DERA and Annual Development Programme from 2001-2002 to 2003-2004 for new and ongoing schemes in the district.

He claimed that the ongoing projects would be completed by December this year.

ZAKAT FUND: The provincial Zakat council has released Rs12.16 million in regular heads for deserving persons, including students, in the district as a sixth monthly instalment for the current fiscal year.

District Zakat Officer Din Mohammad Shaikh said this while briefing journalists here on Wednesday.

DEN RAIDED: The Shikarpur police, led by ASP Khurram Shahzad, raided a gambling den of the chairman, Zakat Committee, here on Tuesday night and arrested 10 gamblers. The arrested were charged in a court.
