KARACHI: SM college to be accorded university status


KARACHI, Sept 24: Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar has said that efforts are under way to accord Sindh Madressatul Islam the status of university.

Hopefully, this historical institution would get the status in few months, he said while talking to Prof. Muhammad Ali Shaikh, Principal of the institution, who called on him at the CM House here on Wednesday.

Mr Mahar said Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali would also be invited to visit the Madressah.

Imtiaz Sheerazi (MPA) and former legislators Ameer Bux Bhutto and Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi also called on the chief minister.

EPZA CHIEF: Chairman of the Export Processing Zone Authority Lt-Col Syed Akbar Hussain met the chief minister on Wednesday and apprised him of the EPZs being set up in the province. He sought the provincial government’s cooperation in this regard.

The CM told him that the issue of the waiver of 0.5 per cent cess, levied by the Sindh government, would be taken up for a decision in next cabinet meeting.

MINISTERS: Provincial ministers Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh, Irfanullah Marwat, Dr Saeeda Malik and Dr Irfan Gul Magsi called on Chief Minister Ali Muhammad Mahar at the CM House on Wednesday and discussed with him various matters. Some important decisions were taken during the meeting.

Mr Shaikh and Mr Marwat expressed full confidence in the performance of the CM.—PPI
