Another gold for Meher

KARACHI, Sept 22: Pakistan’s star boxer Meherullah won the featherweight gold after outboxing South Korea’s G.U Sevng Hyuak 28-16 in the China international tournament in Urmuki on Monday.

According to Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF), light-welterweight Asghar Ali Shah lost to China’s Abudurouaul Rouzi 19-22 in the final round.

Meher, an Asian Games and Commonwealth gold medallist, got richer when he get a cash prize of $1,000, Asghar received $500, while Noman Kareem, who lost the light-flyweight semifinal received $250.

The two other Pakistanis, bantamweight Abid Ali and super-heavyweight Muzaffar Iqbal were defeated in the quarterfinals.
