British judicial team arrives

ISLAMABAD, Sept 21: A British judicial delegation arrived here on Sunday on a three-day-long visit to discuss the issue of abduction of children and their forced marriages by the British nationals of Pakistani origin.

The visit is a follow up of talks on the UK-Pakistan protocol signed in January 2003 in England, an official of the Supreme Court said.

The British judicial delegation, led by Dame Elizabeth Butler Sloss, president of the Family Division of Court of Appeal of England, would hold negotiations with the members of the Pakistan judiciary.

The five member UK delegation consists of Dame Elizabeth Butler Sloss, DBE, President of the Family Division, Court of Appeal of England and Wales, Justice Thorpe, Justice of the Court of Appeal, Justice Singer, Family Division of High Court, Judge Pearl, President of the Care Standards Tribunal Lady Anne Smith of Supreme Court of Scotland and Justice Gillen of Family Division of the High Court of Northern Ireland.
