MUMBAI, Sept 19: International Cricket Council ICC Chief Executive Malcolm Speed also said the disruption of cricketing ties between India and Pakistan had hampered the ICC’s 10-year Test calendar.
“We hope with India and Pakistan’s ties will be restored soon and things will fall into place,” he told newsmen Friday on conclusion of two-day ICC meeting in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, ICC President Ehsan Mani, when asked about resumption of Indo-Pak cricket ties, said, “I, along with Malcolm Speed, met Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf recently and he was very keen to restart the cricketing ties.
“However, when we decided to talk to the Indian government through their cricket board (BCCI), the board officials said it would be better if they alone held talks with the government first before involving the ICC,” he added.
“With the Indian government giving clearance for an under-19 team’s visit to Pakistan later this year, there are positive signs that the Indo-Pak cricketing ties at all levels would resume soon”, Mani added.—PPI
