DCO asked to pay pensioner’s dues

LARKANA, Sept 18: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Larkana, on Thursday ordered the DCO of Dadu to clear arrears of a pensioner in one month.

Ahsan Ali Narejo, a retired revenue collector, had field the petition, stating therein that since his retirement on Jan 31, 2001, the DCO, EDO, revenue, and the DO, revenue, had refused him his pension, gratuity and other emoluments by raising different objections.

The petitioner’s counsel said his client was not paid the amount despite producing no-objection certificates from the Mukhtiarkar, DDO, revenue, and the circle officer, Anti-Corruption Establishment, asked by the respondents.

However, the DDO, revenue, informed the court that five departmental inquiries were pending against the petitioner.

The counsel of the petitioner said under the law if an inquiry against an employee was not completed in one year of his retirement, full pension and gratuity had to be sanctioned for him.

The EDO, revenue, Mukhtiar Hussain Soomro, appeared on behalf of the DCO.

The bench comprised Justice Mushir Alam and Justice Syed Zawar Hussain Jafferi.

COMMITTEE FORMED: A division bench of the Sindh High Court, Larkana, on Thursday constituted a two-member committee to ensure that the Larkana taluka Nazim and other functionaries performed duties assigned to them under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance, 2001.

The committee was formed during the hearing of a petition, filed by Qadir Bakhsh Bhatti, regarding insanitary condition in the city and failure of the Taluka Municipal Administration.

The district Nazim and the DCO would visit the city and ensure that the respondents performed their duties. They would submit their report after 15 days that would come up for hearing on Oct 9.

SHC deputy registrar Altaf Hussain Chandio submitted a report regarding his inspection of the city which said dirty water had accumulated in many areas.
