11 get life term in murder case

SUKKUR, Sept 18: The judge of the Anti-Terrorism Court-III, Sukkur and Larkana divisions, here on Thursday sentenced 11 persons to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs200,000 each in a murder case.

The convicts were identified as Abdul Wahid, Ahmad Nawaz, Gul Hassan, Kakal, Tajoo, Imdoo, Mureed, Bagi, Sabbir, Rehmatullah, and Shah.

The judge, Naimatullah Phulpoto, acquitted Ghulam Sarwar, Abdul Rehman, Rind Ali, Sain Bux, Bagan, Golo, Haji Kirir, Tirati, Arboo, Ghulam Hussain, Halan, Azizoo, Nekoo, Mithal and Tegari of the charge.

On Oct 30, 2001, the accused had attacked the Bugti Colony police station in Jacobabad. In the exchange of fire, policeman Mukhtiar had been killed and two constables Bashir Ahmad and Gullan Khan injured. The accused later looted arms and ammunition and fled.

haj flights: The Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and Industry has demanded that the government should start Haj flights from the district.

They said the discontinuation of Haj flights from Sukkur had created problems for the people.
