QUETTA, Sept 17: A group of seven Balochistan Assembly members belonging to the Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) and the National Alliance announced on Wednesday that they would stay away from the assembly session scheduled to be held on Thursday.

The protesting members of the ruling alliance made the announcement at a press conference.

“We have decided to boycott the session to register our protest against the discriminatory attitude being adopted by the government and bureaucracy with us,” the group’s spokesman, Shabir Badani, said.

The MPAs who said they would boycott the session are: Mr Badani, Shoaib Nusharwani, Abdul Ghafoor Lehri, Abdul Qadoos Bizenjo and Syed Sher Jan of the PML-Q and Shah Zaman Rind and Asghar Rind of the National Alliance.

Mr Badani said the government’s attitude with them had been unjust during the last eight months.

He said the MPAs were neglected in the annul development programme and on other occasions despite belonging to the ruling coalition. He said the boycott was not aimed at destabilizing the coalition government in the province.
